Story
Ciske de Rat – the Musical, based on the trilogy of Piet Bakker, belongs to the Dutch culture. The musical tells the famous story, but also shows Ciske’s life as a grown man. The adventures of Cis the Man, played by Danny de Munk, Jorge Verkroost and Quincy, are interwoven in the musical and gives a new dimension to this traditional Dutch story.
The musical shows moments of emotion, humor and brutal strokes and also how Ciske the Man is coping with his past. The musical brings you an evening full of memories of the boy with a heart of gold. Besides the hit “I feel so damn alone’ Henny Vrienten has written 26 new songs for the musical.
This completely new, original Dutch musical has a full Dutch creative team. Henny Vrienten is responsible for the music and debuts as composer for a large musical. Script & lyrics are written by André Breedland and, along with Maurice Wijnen, is also responsible for the treatment of the trilogy.
The show received 7 John Kraaijkamp Musical Awards.
